Best Overnight Diapers For Toddlers

How To Choose The Right Overnight Diaper For Your Toddler

Every parent’s dream is to have a baby that sleeps well throughout the night or, at least, most of the night. If you weren’t aware of it, a wet diaper is one of the most frequent reasons a baby is waking up in the middle of the night, very upset about it as well.

While you are keeping an eye on the baby during the day, changing the little one’s diaper as often as needed, at night you’re probably looking to get as much rest as you can.

This means that you need to make sure that your baby manages to sleep for several hours in a row. But, considering that they will wet the diaper several times during the night, finding a better way to manage this problem will keep everybody happy.

Just how important it is to have overnight diapers for your baby? If you thought that there’s no difference between the regular diapers you use during the day and overnight diapers, think again, as it is more than just a marketing issue.

Overnight diapers were specially created to offer more protection during the night when the baby’s diaper is not changed as often as it is during the day. Thus, overnight diapers have an increased power of absorbing liquids and will prevent them from leaking and getting the bed wet.

As you can see, with their help, your baby will be able to enjoy a restful sleep without being bothered by a moist diaper or wet bed. And a happy and rested baby translates into a happy and rested parent.

A lot of first time parents are unclear about how often they need to change their baby’s diapers, especially at night when the last thing they want is to wake up the baby in the middle of the night.

Depending on a baby’s temperament, there are some who can handle a wet diaper, while others, well, they need their diaper changed after every single pee.

Diapers are expensive, to say the least, and having to change them constantly may not sit well especially for moms who want to stretch their diaper supply just a little bit to save some money.

Letting a baby sit or even sleep in a wet diaper can have some pretty negative implications, which is why we need to look at some of the best overnight diapers for toddlers that are designed to provide at least 12 hours of leak and wetness protection. Consider the following picks:

GoodNites Boys and Girls NightTime Underwear

GoodNites underwear has been branded as the number one overnight diaper made especially for boys that provide 40% protection thanks to a 5-layer protection that prevents large quantities of liquid from escaping.

The extra absorbency at certain parts of the diaper including double leg barriers is designed to lock away the wetness, reduce odors, and helps to prevent leaks throughout the night.

GoodNites Boys’ NightTime underwear also come in extra small, small, medium, large, and extra-large range of sizes and stretchy sides that make it ideal to fit different body shapes and sizes.

GoodNites underwear is therefore ideal for heavy wetters and gets a stamp of approval for absorbency, odor reduction, and sizing.

Pampers® UnderJams

Unlike GoodNites Boys’ NightTime underwear, Pampers UnderJams only provide 20% absorption level, which according to Pampers, is a significant improvement compared to its latter, thanks to an Absorbent Gelling Material (AGM).

This diaper is specifically made for girls and comprises of Pampers leak protection to ensures that there are no leakages at night regardless of the sleeping position.

It also has a low waist that disguises the diaper to look like regular underwear and what’s important, it has an ultra-absorbent core in the diaper traps wetness overnight and prevents it from escaping so that a child clothes and beddings stay dry and stainless.

Pampers UnderJams are great because they are discreet, they do not leak and are available in different sizes too.

Allnites Overnight Diapers

Not only are these diapers hypoallergenic, latex, dye, chlorine and fragrance-free, they also consist of an absorbent core that provides up to 12 hours of wetness protection.

The stretchable waist makes this diaper snug enough to stop any nighttime leaks yet flexible enough that the diaper won’t cause chafing.

Allnites Overnight Diapers come in sizes 3 to 5, and what’s more impressive, they are made with diaper-relief ointments such as Vitamin E and aloe vera, both that serve an important role of moisturizing, sealing the skin and treating diaper rash.

This makes Allnites Overnight Diapers one of the best overnight diapers for toddlers because not only does it keep the baby’s diaper area as dry as possible, but it also keeps wetness and bacteria from irritating the baby’s skin.

Seventh Generation Toddler Potty Training Pants

Parents who are always on a never-ending hunt for all-natural baby products, the hunt is over because Seventh Generation Toddler Potty Training Pants are designed thoughtfully from plant-based ingredients and natural, field-grown fragrances.

Not only are they hypoallergenic, dye- and chlorine-free, but they also have an ultra-absorbent core derived from wood pulp, corn, and wheat.

These super soft, non-toxic diapers may be a tad pricey, but they are ideal for traveling, heavy wetters and a great choice for bedtime thanks to resealable tabs that keeps liquids from escaping at night.

Seventh Generation Toddler Potty Training Pants brand gets a thumbs-up for being an all-natural, environment and eco-friendly product that is safe for toddlers.

Pull-Ups Night-Time Potty Training Pants

Pull-ups are play an important role in the potty training process.

Elasticity, absorption, contour fit, tape strength, ease of removal, a variety of colors and favorite characters, are some of the many features of the Pull-Ups Night-Time Potty Training Pants for both girls and boys.

Their design allows them to be easily pulled down and back up to use the potty and offer outstanding leak protection for both daytime and nighttime potty training.

The diaper offers 5-layer protection, and double leg barriers, which is ideal for boys or girls who need extra protection to stay dry during the nighttime and the elastic is strong enough but flexible to afford a better fit while sleeping.

Not only do they fit like cotton underwear, but they also have easy to open sides that can be refastened for an adjustable fit and sizes range from 2T to 4T, making them ideal for toddlers between 18 to 40 pounds.

Sposie Booster Pads Diaper Doubler

Some diaper brands are very effective when it comes to moisture absorption and keeping it away from the baby’s skin.

However, there are baby’s that are heavy wetters even for extra-absorbent overnight diapers, in this case, using a maxipad insert like Sposie Booster Pads Diaper Doubler to line the inside of an existing diaper will add an extra layer to avoid leakage and absorb any moisture from soaking through.

Maxipad inserts increase absorbency by 8oz to stop nighttime leaks, they are also chlorine, latex and fragrance-free, they are soft and plush for added comfort, and most importantly they are designed to fit any disposable diaper and turn it into the best overnight diaper for toddlers.

Making sure you pick the right overnight diaper is crucial if you don’t want to waste money or run into the unfortunate circumstance of waking up in the morning to discover your toddler is soaking wet and that their bed is all wet too.

I know that there have been a few times when I wake up in the morning to find that my sons diaper has leaked through, I just feel terrible. Knowing that I had been sleeping unaware that my baby was wet, cold and uncomfortable, really gets to me.

I do not want to make that mistake ever again.

Huggies Overnites

Personally, right now I am using these Huggies Overnites as my current overnight diaper for my 19 month old son. I know that I said this was a good diaper for babies, but I have to admit that I was quite impressed by these overnight diapers.

They are very effective when it comes to rapidly absorb moisture and keeping it away from the skin of the baby.

There is also the patented Huggies Leak Lock system, which makes sure that the baby will stay nice and dry throughout the night.

The waistband of these diapers is stretchy, securing a tight fit while being comfortable at the same time. If you ask me, these are the best overnight diapers Huggies ever made.

But, there’s the disadvantage of not finding them available only from size 3 up. So, your baby must be over 16 pounds to make good use of these diapers.

Still, choosing the best overnight diapers for your baby is not as easy as you may think. You can end up being puzzled about the types of materials used for the making of these diapers or you can be pushed away by the rather high price tag.

These are only two of the aspects you should consider when looking for diapers that won’t cause skin problems, especially considering the fact that they will sit on your baby’s bum for quite a number of hours in a row and they will also get wet, are reliable enough, and won’t wreck your budget.

These are so important for the little ones. There is nothing more horrible than having a wet diaper all night long. This is why babies wake up so much during the night. If they are comftable they sleep longer. Great article and review. I’m sure parents these days will look for anything that would make their baby sleep better at night and stay dry and comftable.

Hi Andrea, I just know that when I first attempted to buy a nighttime diaper I was so confused as to what brand to get because there were sooo many options. Mostly the marketing was what got me and I wasted a lot of money because usually there would be leaks or my son would get this weird rash sometimes on his back. He gets this particular rash when I use particular diapers, such as scented ones or really low quality. I learned this by trial & error. But after spending a considerable amount of money I think I accumulated an accurate list of what I feel are the very best overnight diapers for toddlers.

Hi Sophia! I have a 7 year old daughter that still frequently wets the bed. She has a very small bladder and has a hard time holding it through the night. She’s also a very hard sleeper. Very bad combination. I use Pampers under jams and absolutely love them! My daughter loves them too because they really look like real underwear! Sometimes they do leak though, on days when she sleeps longer like on the weekends. I have never heard of Sposie Diaper doublers and will definitely be checking them out! Thanks for the tips!

Hi Sarah, glad to hear that the Pampers Underjams work really good for your daughter. And yes, the Sposie Diaper Doublers work really good for extra protection for those nights where you are worried about leaks. Your welcome 🙂

These are hard to find ;I think.
I remember that they were hard to find for my sister years ago. A special need teenager who needed all-night diapers was just hard. I also recall many accidents due to this. It is also hard I guess when people have no income to buy good ones like these.

Hi Linda. Some of these brands are not available in stores but fortunately you can buy them here online. I don’t think any of these would be suitable for a special needs teenager, but I know what you mean when you say it is hard to find good quality over night diapers for people who have low income.
